===== A note from Lynne

Just writing a short note to let you all know that I have not disappeared off the face of the earth...I’ve just had some scheduling conflicts and have not been able to make it to the meetings lately. Last month I attended CHA in Chicago during the meeting weekend and this month I am teaching a class here in CT. There are a whole bunch of things I can’t wait to tell you about at the next meeting, including the new Kato Concentrated Clay that has finally been produced and is now available. If some of you remember, I came up with this concept a year and a half ago and it’s finally in production. I am so excited that something I “invented” is now “on the market.” I have a good supply of the Kato concentrates and will bring them to the meeting in September if anyone wants to see/buy them. From CHA, I also have info about Studio by Sculpey clay (I have a sample for people to feel), several new products I scouted out and quite a few awards and book inclusions to share with you all. I hope you have a great meeting...see you all at the September meeting!

===== Minutes

MINUTES FROM THE JULY 2007 MTG OF SCPCG 07/21/07
Meeting called to order at @ 11:25 am
17 members in attendance.
Demo on Karen's Kane by Karen.

Discussion on the Klay Karma retreat. Everyone had a wonderful time. They had a fun 1 inch mosaic swap that everyone liked. It seemed easier than our Bead Strands. Discussed doing something similar next year.

Clay ConneCTion 2008 will be July 25th-27th. Libby secured a blog address for it at clayconnection.blogspot.com which will be used for announcements.

More ideas for the retreat were discussed such as alternatives for the goody bags. It's harder to find donations and many people don't actually use what they get. Sue will look into getting potholders or oven mitts. A technique book was suggested with ideas compiled from guild members. The emphasis would be on useful things rather than quantity. Ideas for name tags were discussed such as a more basic tag, something that we could put the schedule inside. Will discuss again after getting a catalog.

Discussed pricing for the Bead Bazaar. Make sure you bring your best, new work. A $1 basket was suggested for beads you just don't want anymore. Bring in your beads for the August meeting (Sept 8th is the final cutoff), preferably in a plastic see-thru box with your name clearly labeled on it.

Projects from the hinge challenge were displayed.
Debbie won Libby's piece in the Raffle Chain.
Money for the "Building Better Beads" workshop is due for August.
Show and Tell followed.
Meeting adjourned at 2pm.
