=====Announcements

It’s time to start getting ready for the Bead Bazaar, which will take place at the Holiday Inn in North Haven on September 11, 2004.  All guild members are invited to sell their beads and jewelry items for a small commission to the guild.  If you would like to help out at the show, you will pay a 10% commission.  If not, we will sell your items for you at the table and you will pay a 20% commission.  All items should be affixed to a card for a uniform look to our items.  Cards and inventory sheets will be provided.  We would like to ask that you submit your best work, and will try to accommodate everything that people bring in, but if there is a huge response, we may need to limit the amount of items per person to sell.  (It will be a liberal limit…like 25 or so) ALL ITEMS SHOULD BE BROUGHT IN TO THE AUGUST MEETING, COMPLETE WITH INVENTORY SHEETS!  If you can’t make it to the meeting, or need a bit of extra time to get your items together, you can make an arrangement to get them to me (Lynne) by August 31 at the very latest.

MINUTES FROM THE JUNE 2004 MTG OF SCPCG

6/19/04

15 members and 2 guests were present at the meeting.

No demo today.

Tracy left the message that the Relay for Life in Newtown went wonderfully. She still needs BoH for the next weekend Relay for Life in Bethel. (approximately 200)

Bead Bazaar is September 11th, 2004. VERY soon after Clay ConneCTion!  It is in North Haven Holiday Inn. The guild rents two tables, and all members of the guild are welcome to participate. Sets (3 to 7 beads) and Focal beads seem to be the best sellers. Cards to mount your items will be passed out at the July meeting. (The cards help in the uniform and neat look of the table, make everything look more professional.) Also inventory sheets will be passed out, for everyone participating to fill out listing all items donated.  If you help at the Bazaar table, your commission is 10%, if you do not, it is 20%. Lynne will be collecting your items at the August meeting. August there will also be help with pricing your items, and keeping the pricing uniform throughout the guild table.

Congratulations to the people who have items published in the latest polymer clay book “400 Polymer Clay Designs.” First time published anywhere are Libby Mills, Sharon Mihalyak, Barbara McKie (for polymer clay), Lynne Schwarzenberg, and Cindy Seiwert. Folks who have been published elsewhere, but a

re here also are Jody Bishel, and Diane Villano. Our guild alone has 17 items in this book!!!

Sue Rankin taught her first class, and it went wonderfully. She taught to a knitting group; BoH for two hours in the morning, and buttons for 2 hours in the afternoon.

Clay ConneCTion 2004 preparation is running smoothly. There are approximately 37 now registered officially, with at least more 6 definitely coming. The most we will accept will be 75.

There were 60 vendors/shops/companies/etc already contacted for the goodie bag and/or raffle, and already 24 have pledged and/or sent their donations. It’s already clear our goodie bags will be well stuffed and the raffle will be sensational. Libby says anyone who wishes to help with goodie bags can contact her.

There is already a tentative schedule in place for demos and events; early July it will be emailed to the participants. Demos will be spaced throughout the day, and approximately 30 to 45 minutes long.

There will be a laptop there to instantly download digital photos taken at the CC2004, and we will have an instant scrolling photo record of this year! Anyone who wishes can bring their digital camera and when you have photos you have taken of events as they unfold, bring them to Sharon who will download them to the laptop. (See Sharon for types of formats that we can accommodate.)

It is suggested that you make your 2 ‘retreat beads’ BEFORE the retreat. They are due Saturday morning at 11am. If you wish to participate in the pin swap, that can also be made well before CC2004.

Our guild DOES have a message board online, specifically for just our guild. It is the perfect place to share guild information between meetings. Now with CC2004 coming up, it is even more so. Check it out!!!
