Call for Beads for a New Slide Show! The National Guild is sponsoring a new slide show—A Showcase of Wondrous Beads—and you’re invited to submit work for the show. The rules are simple:
A panel of clay artists from several northeastern polymer clay guilds will decide which slides to incorporate into this show. Our goal is to have the slide show ready for the Guild Convention in June! If you have any questions, please feel free to write or call Connie Donaldson (connied233@aol.com).

Leigh Ross’ Millennium Garden Bead Workshop was loads of fun! Lynne is hosting a Flower Cane Swap to continue the Millennium Garden fun. If you would like to participate, please let Lynne know. You need 1 flower cane divided into 5 pieces at least ½ inch in diameter and 2 inches long. The background of the cane needs to be CFC-06 Premo Bleached Translucent. Please provide different canes for each group you wish to join. Max 5 groups. Due by November 30th. Sign up by Oct 31. If you would also like some leaf canes, just send in 1 to 5 leaf cane segments and you will get the same number of other people’s leaf canes back.
Bottles of Hope: A volunteer from the Danbury Cancer Ctr runs the Bethel Relay For Life. She is attending the NE Conference of RFL organizers. She would like to bring a BOH to each area coordinator at the conf. The theme for the 2004 Relays is "Hope". PLEASE make some BOH & get them to Tracy before the end of the month. Even sending 1 or 2 would help.
Tracy is also looking for an assistant for BOH who would compile a national polymer clay guild contact list for BOH. We would then be able to use those contacts when we get letters/e-mails from Girl Scout troops etc. who would like to do something with BOH but may need a bit of help getting started. Tricia H has volunteered to take on this position.
Nominations of Guild Officers
President – Sharon Mihalyak
Vice President – Debbie Goodrow or Lynne Schwarzenberg
Treasurer – Sue Rankin
Secretary – Libby Mills
The officers serve a 2-year term, ending December 31st. The new term begins Jan 1, 2004. Elections will be held at the November meeting. A ballot will be mailed out to all current members so that anyone who cannot attend the Nov meeting may vote by e-mail. Members attending the Nov meeting will cast their vote in person.
Since there are 2 candidates for the position of Vice President, Lynne & Debbie will each write a short summary of what they have done for the guild and what they would like to do for the guild if elected. This will be included in the ballot.
Terry has suggested that we put the list of new officers and committee chairs on the website and then occasionally in the newsletter so that all members know who is involved in different activities of the guild. A lively discussion followed.
Raffle Chain- Lynne won the last Raffle Chain raffle & is providing a lovely pair of Salt & Pepper shakers done in the Millennium Garden Style. The raffle will be drawn at the November meeting.
The BOH Workshop Kit – Lynne had a major job cleaning & repairing the 5 pasta machines in the kit as they had been improperly cleaned & reassembled before. Big thanks to Lynne for taking on the job. Items needed for the kit include: more acrylic rollers, saran wrap, snack size baggies, copies of the BOH messages & brochures, extra C-clamps, oven thermometer.
We can always use donations of canes.
Jeanette Tang had surgery yesterday and we are circulating a get well card.
New Haven City wide Open Studios continue. Check it out if you are interested. Sharon has details or you can look in the Advocate.
Meeting adjourned at 2:42 p.m.
