===== Minutes from September 20, 2003

Meeting called to order at 11:20 am

Demo by Libby Mills on using bead rollers (www.poly-tools.com )

Next month's demo will be Using a Bead Spinner and Basic Bead Crochet by Marie H.

There were 11 members in attendance.

Welcome to new member Kelly McKee.

The BEAD BAZAAR went really well this year. About twice the sales as last year, a bit over $1200. Bead sets accounted for 56% of sales. The guild cards were a big improvement, we may make them a bit smaller next year to allow for more items to be displayed. The booth looked beautiful and professional.

Lots of polymer classes coming up, Jody’s studio class in Brookfield, Diane has 2 classes in Guilford: Foiled Applique & Milliefiore – Beyond the basics, Deb’s Intro to Polymer Clay thru Clinton  Adult Ed and Jeff Dever will be at Brookfield teaching Miniature Hollow Forms. Diane also will be teaching a class in using large hollow forms (think big fish) at the Guilford Handcraft Center, date TBD.

Registrations are still being accepted for Leigh Ross’ Millenium Garden Beads class. We have 16 so far, coming from around New England, Virginia and even Saudi Arabia.
Members who can’t make the workshop are welcome to come in the evening and hang out with us.

Travelling Exhibit: please lend us some new items so that we can refresh the exhibit. It is going back to some of the same libraries and it could use some updating and examples of members’ current work. It will be in Seymour for the month of October. Lynne is setting up.

Land of Odds is hosting its 2nd Annual Ugly necklace Contest. Check out their website www.landofodds.com for details.

BOH Bottles of Hope were recently handed out to some scientists and breast cancer survivors at a recent research symposium on how american breast cancer research dollars have been spent.

Please check out the guild’s delphi message boards, particularly the BOH board and post to keep them alive and active. Sharon could use some help in responding to messages on the BOH board.

Raffle Chain – Diane has brought a faux turquoise brooch for today’s raffle. The winner of today’s item will provide the next raffle chain item which will be raffled in November.

Lynne is the winner for today’s raffle.

Nominations for guild officers will be next month and voting will be at the November meeting.
So far it looks like the slate will be:
Sharon – president
Lynne or Deb – vp
Sue – treasurer
Libby – secretary

Please consider bringing an item for donation next month for St Paul’s Church Fair in Wallingford (where we held our last clay day). The fair will be Nov 8th. You can give your item to Wendy or Marie.

The meeting adjourned at 2;30 pm.
