===== Minutes

MINUTES FROM THE AUGUST 2004 MTG OF SCPCG

Meeting called to order at 11:20 AM
There were 10 members in attendance.

An excellent demo of Faux Enamel Technique using Liquid Clay and Pinata Inks was provided by Christy Sherman.
An additional handout on the technique provided complete details.

Lynne will demonstrate her Rose Cane technique at the September meeting.
Gerry will do a PMC demonstration in October with possible help from Libby.
November demo will be by Deb on tips for teaching a PC class.
December will have no demo as the annual tag sale will be held that meeting.

Lynne found a possible site for the Grant Diffendafer workshop (October 23 & 24) at the Hotchkiss Hose Firehouse in Derby.
Cost is not yet known and Lynne will pursue the use of this space immediately.
Also, Diane and Sharon are checking out the Masonic Hall in Northford as another option.
The workshop is titled “Marvelous Mica”. Cost to attendees has not been established as it will depend on the price of the hall rental.
Once the site is determined, Lynne will contact guild members, retreat attendees, and the regional guilds to publicize this event.

Diane provided an update on Clay ConneCTion ’04. Survey forms showed almost 100% positive feedback on the event.
Complaints mostly concerned the food and the dorm rooms which are out of the guild’s control.
Suggestions for next year include providing a list of area restaurants and fast food outlets so attendees can go out for early coffee or meals, reminding people that the accommodations are dormitories and that they may prefer to bring an air mattress or foam pad if the dorm beds are an issue.
It was also determined that the most valuable publicity came from PCC and our guild itself.
The Massachusetts guild is considering having a retreat in the years that SCPCG does not. Diane sent them our outline for setting up a retreat to help them out.

Discussion about the Bead Bazaar followed with Lynne providing the list of supply’s from last year.
The same people offered to provide supplies for this year’s sale.
We will use the retreat name tags (with a new insert) for name tags for guild members working at the sale.
Diane is providing a “cane progression board” she created at a previous workshop to demonstrate to attendees how a PC cane is developed.
Lynne is getting a self-inking rubber stamp made with the SCPCG name and web site and is providing plastic containers to use as bead trays.
Lynne and Sharon will go to the site the night before to set up our tables.
Volunteers were solicited to work during the sale.

Deb brought in the Bottles of Hope from the retreat to show at the meeting. Sharon had her slide show from the retreat set up on her computer.

Raffle item for September will be donated by Sue Rankin.

Lynne collected the beads for the Bead Bazaar. Much time was spent oohing and ahhing over the items.
