LINE – A Worksheet For Creativity

Some Line Examples

Helen Wyland-Malchow has been teaching the guild design elements at the Zoom guild meetings..
She started with LINE. Download the Worksheet here.  (was sent out with the June NAN).
She went over different elements/attributes of Line.

Take something you love and represent it as LINE and do the exercises on the worksheet. The pictures are examples that Helen showed to explain the different concepts. Play with it and have some fun!

We will share our worksheets at the ConneCTion Challenge Zoom meeting on July 3.
Looking forward to seeing all we do!

"The Horizontal and Vertical Ovals show the Contrast between the Straight Static Lines and the Movement at the Ends Created by the Curvilinear Lines" ~Helen

"When you feel the urge to mindlessly scroll through Facebook, take out the worksheet and play with the exercises" ~ Carole

Virtual Meetings

Virtual Meetings until Further Notice

We will be hosting our guild meetings via Zoom until further notice.
The link, meeting ID, and password will be in the newsletter that will be emailed out a few days prior to the meeting.
Hope to see you there!

And (for those like me who are a little vain) here is a zoom youtube link from Libby that has good lighting tips: https://youtube/ACNGhPKnmok

Also another tip - (I'm SO Vain!!!!...) You can go to Zoom -> Preferences -> Video and in "My Video you can check "Touch up my appearance" which softens up everything 😉

Weekend of Clay – Class Proposals Needed

Class Proposals Needed

Weekend of Clay class proposals are needed.

For our newer members not familiar with our WEoC - they are classes taught BY SCPCG members FOR SCPCG members. It is a great way to "get your feet wet" if you want to try teaching. The classes are varied and not just polymer. If you have any questions, please email us.

Weekend of Clay 2019

Dates: Saturday & Sunday, March 23 & 24

Location: Foxon Firehouse, East Haven, CT

Classes are typically 3 hours: 9:30-12:30 and 1:30-4:30. If a class really needs 4 hours, we have room for one 4 hour class on Saturday afternoon.

Payment: Class fees are $15 so we will pay teachers $150 for up to 10 students, and $15 a head for numbers over 10. You can set a maximum class size if necessary. Materials fees over and above the class fee go directly to the teacher.

PROPOSALS DEADLINE - Due to Carole Monahan at [email protected] by January 15th. We need to get everything together so that the vote can happen by the end of January, and we can publicize and start sign-ups.

Class proposals must be your own original design. Topics can be any polymer clay technique or project as well as non-polymer clay options, multi-media etc. Pretty much any topic you think our guild members would find interesting. Past class

es have covered topics such as beading, basic metalworking, mixed-media play, metal clay, bookbinding, kumihimo etc. as well as various polymer clay techniques or projects such as canework, vessels, transfers, sculpting ...

Class proposals should include a short description of the class as well as a couple of photos. PDF format is greatly appreciated, but word documents are fine.

Clay ConneCTion ’18 Prize Winners

We were so fortunate to have so many prizes to share with our lucky attendees.

Our goodie bags were filled with many samples of clays from Polyform, Apoxie Sculpt, clay and cutters from Makin's, and generous coupons from Makin's, Sculpey, Marvelous Molds, ComposiMold and Craftcast.
They were generous and also donated items for our raffle. Other donations were given by R J Crafts and many of the attendees. Thanks to all of you for making this such a successful and fun retreat!
